Summary
This is one of Australia’s most iconic and well-known overland tracks.
Ideal for those looking for a longer more challenging hike it crosses through valleys, creeks, rivers, bushland, farms and wineries, finishing at the spectacular Jenolan Caves.

Experiencing the vastness of a clear night sky far away from light pollution.
Spotting wild kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas or wombats.
Hiking cross country through the epic Megalong Valley.
Exploring the famous Jenolan Caves (one of the world’s most spectacular cave systems).

Detailed Itinerary
Day Before
We deliver everything to you.
Day 1
Distance: 18km |Walk Time: 5.5hrs | Ascent/Descent: 255m/987m
Enjoy a lovely train trip through the Blue Mountains to the vibrant and historic town of Katoomba.
After strolling through the outskirts of town take some time to soak up some beautiful views over the valley.
Descend into the Megalong Valley passing through forest and out into wide open farmlands.
Stop at a winery or continue hiking until you reach a tranquil swimming hole in the middle of the bush, passing by a native beehive on the way.
Cross the swing bridge over a river then head into camp where you will enjoy a beautiful night stargazing!
Day 2
Distance: 19km |Walk Time: 6.5hrs | Ascent/Descent: 1,122m/281m
After enjoying a hearty breakfast a challenging day of hiking starts by heading up the track as it sweeps around cattle yards and through farmlands.
Enjoy a break at a tranquil little grassy area next to a stream.
Hike through a giant gum tree forest being sure to keep an eye out for native wildlife.
Enjoy a well deserved rest as you come into camp for another night stargazing!
Day 3
Distance: 10km |Walk Time: 3hrs | Ascent/Descent: 230m/639m
Wind your way down to the valley floor through forest and out to see some spectacular rock formations.
Enjoy a meal at the historic Jenolan Caves House and take a stroll around the turquoise Blue Lake.
Explore the stunning Jenolan Caves with their unique and grand formations (entry fees are required for some caves).
Make your way back into Katoomba and either head straight back to Sydney or choose from a number of our optional activities.
